The Department of Home Affairs has released a series of new eligible skilled occupation lists for Australia’s skilled visa programs (temporary and permanent skilled visas). The new skilled occupation lists commence Monday 11 March 2019. Importantly, the changes introduce new requirements for employers sponsoring overseas trained doctors.
Subclass 186 Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) visa
Prospective visa applicants must have an occupation on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL).
There are 216 skilled occupations for this visa type.

Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS) visa (subclass 187)
Prospective visa applicants must have an occupation on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL), or, the Regional Occupation List (ROL) for employers in regional areas.
There are 673 skilled occupations for this visa type and apply to both Direct Entry and Temporary Resident Transition (TRT) streams.

Prospective visa applicants must have an occupation on the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL) for the Short-term stream; the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) or the Regional Occupation List (ROL) for employers in regional areas for the Medium-term stream.
There are 508 skilled occupation for this visa type.
All visa applicants must be nominated in one of these skilled occupations. Exceptions may apply where separate arrangements exist under a labour agreement.
