The NSW State Migration Plan will be subject to capping which will limit the number of skilled migrants that may be sponsored by Industry & Investment NSW each year from the agreed NSW State Sponsorship Eligibility Lists.
There are 138 occupations on the NSW State Migration Plan, including eighteen occupations that are not listed on DIAC’s new Skilled Occupation List (Schedule 3), with eight occupations now open for new NSW state sponsorship under the Skilled Regional Sponsored or Skilled Sponsored visa programs.
Furthermore, six new occupations are now open for sponsorship under the Skilled Regional Sponsored Subclass 475/487 visa. These are Chef, Baker, Fitter (General), Metal Machinist (1st Class), Toolmaker, Cabinet Maker.
Two new occupations which are now open for sponsorship under the Skilled Sponsored Subclass 176/886 visa include Insurance Broker and Solicitor.
Of the eighteen occupations included in the NSW State Migration Plan that are not on the new Skilled occupation List, ten occupations are temporarily closed to new sponsorships due to there being an adequate number of applications to be processed by DIAC over the next few months.
The NSW State Migration Plan may be subject to change during the year in response to application rates and changes in the employment market.
From 1st July 2011 a new State Migration Plan is expected to come into operation.
